What we collect
Server logs. Our host records standard technical information for every request — IP address, browser type, page requested, and time — to run and secure the site. Logs are retained by the host for a limited period.
Comments. If comments are enabled and you leave one, we store the name, email, and any website you provide, along with the comment and your IP address, to publish it and to fight spam.
Email. If you email us — a tip, a correction, a question — we keep the message and your address for as long as needed to deal with it and keep a record.
Embedded content. Articles may embed material from other sites (a court filing host, a video, a social post). Those sites can collect data about you as if you had visited them directly.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data. We run no advertising trackers and build no advertising profiles of readers.
Cookies
The site uses a small number of functional cookies (for example, to remember comment-form details, or for logged-in editors). No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can block or clear cookies in your browser and the site will still work.
